Nieuwleusen wind turbine resumes production after fire
A 4.2 MW wind turbine in Nieuwleusen has resumed electricity production following a fire in November 2025. The turbine, part of the Veur de Wind project managed by the Nieuwleusen Synergie cooperative, is currently operating at a limited capacity of approximately 2,000 kW.
The restoration process faced delays due to the delivery of incorrect cables for the upper section of the tower. New cables are expected by late September, with installation scheduled for early October. Once completed, the turbine is expected to return to full capacity. Additional site recovery work, including repairs to the crane area and fencing, is also planned.
