Nigel Durham, former Saxon drummer, dies at 61

Nigel Durham, the former drummer for the British heavy metal band Saxon, has passed away at the age of 61. The band confirmed his death on October 24, describing him as a member of the ‘Saxon family’ and expressing condolences to his wife, Lauretta, his daughter, Gemma, and his grandchildren.

Durham played for Saxon from 1987 to 1988, notably performing on the 1988 album ‘Destiny’. He also performed with the group Oliver/Dawson Saxon between 2000 and 2010, and was a member of Morpheus Rising from 2013 to 2016.

The announcement follows a death hoax in April of this year, during which Durham personally addressed social media rumors by stating he was ‘still alive & kickin’. The cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.
