Nigel Farage faces parliamentary probe over undeclared gifts and benefits

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is under investigation by the UK Parliamentary Standards Commissioner. A Sunday Times report says he received undisclosed financial benefits from convicted fraudster George Cottrell before his 2024 election – security, staff, transport and accommodation near Buckingham Palace – and only recorded a modest travel payment. Farage also failed to declare a £5 million donation from crypto‑billionaire Christopher Harborne, which he says was a personal gift for his security. Liberal Democrat MP Josh Babarinde and Labour MP Phil Brickell have referred the matter to the standards watchdog, asking whether Farage breached the code of conduct. Farage’s spokesperson denies any rule breach, calling the claims “baseless”. The scandal adds pressure on Farage, who currently leads opinion polls ahead of the next general election.
