Nigel Farage wins Clacton by-election to return to Parliament

Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, has won the Clacton by-election, returning to Parliament after a self-imposed contest. Farage secured 63% of the vote, defeating his nearest rival, the satirical candidate Count Binface, who received 27%. He is currently the subject of a parliamentary standards inquiry regarding an undeclared £5 million gift from Thai-based cryptocurrency billionaire Christopher Harborne. Farage has maintained the funds were for his security and not political in nature.

Financial analysis reveals that during his initial tenure as MP, Farage earned over £2 million from outside employment, averaging approximately £1,252 per hour. While Farage framed the election as a mandate from the people to counter the political establishment, critics argue the result does not resolve the ongoing investigations into his financial declarations.
