Nigel Farage wins UK seat as Sahra Wagenknecht rejects Thuringia leadership offer

In the United Kingdom, Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, has secured a seat in Parliament following a by-election in the Clacton constituency of Essex. Farage won the seat with 22,239 votes.

In Germany, political tensions have risen in Thuringia after AfD state leader Björn Höcke offered Sahra Wagenknecht the position of Minister-President. Wagenknecht rejected the proposal, describing it as neither honest nor serious and stating that the office is not a trophy to be handed out at will. The BSW party has also criticized the move as a PR stunt. Currently, the AfD and BSW hold a combined 47 of the 88 seats in the Thuringian state parliament.
