Niger government reshuffle: General Tiani appoints four new ministers
Nigerien Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani, implemented a technical reshuffle of the government through a decree signed on September 15, 2026. The reorganization involves the replacement of four ministers across key sectors, including Agriculture and Livestock, Energy, Communication and New Technologies, and Refoundation and Promotion of Social Values.
In the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Colonel Bilaly El Hadji Gambolo succeeds Colonel Mamadou El Hadji Ousmane. Gambolo previously directed the National Office for Hydro-Agricultural Developments (ONAHA). The Ministry of Energy is now led by Lieutenant-Colonel Seyni Alzouma, replacing Professor Amadou Haoua. Adji Ali Salatou has been replaced by Amani Kargne in the Ministry of Communication and New Technologies, while Ali Ben Salah has taken over the Ministry of Refoundation and Promotion of Social Values from Abdourahamane Oumarou.
Despite these changes, the broader structure of the 26-member executive remains intact, with Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine remaining in his position. The reshuffle follows recent leadership changes within the Nigerien Armed Forces and is described as a move to consolidate expertise in sectors vital to national sovereignty and economic stability.
