Niger launches food safety awareness campaign in Diffa
The General Directorate of Veterinary Services (DGSV) has launched a public awareness campaign in Diffa, Niger, to address health risks associated with uncontrolled animal-origin foods. Supported by PACIPA, the initiative focuses on educating the population about the dangers of consuming meat from clandestine slaughterhouses and spoiled products.
The campaign encourages consumers to adopt safer purchasing practices, such as checking expiration dates, inspecting visual appearance, and monitoring odors and storage conditions. It also aims to inform the public about the risks of excessive or unregulated use of food additives and preservatives to prevent food poisoning and related illnesses.
