Niger leads taekwondo standings at AES Games

Niger topped the general standings in taekwondo during the second edition of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) Games held at the Ouaga 2000 Sports Palace. The competition featured athletes from Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso.

Niger secured gold medals through Abdoulaye Y. Moustapha in the men's -63 kg category and Issifi Mamadou Abdoul Aziz in the -55 kg category. Zada Mamadou Housseina also earned gold for Niger in the -49 kg category.

Mali achieved several victories, including gold for Sagaidou Haidara (-48 kg men), Kadiatou Maïga (-55 kg women), and Mariam Diallo (-44 kg women). Mariam Diallo was named the best fighter of the competition.

In the final rankings, Niger placed first, followed by Mali in second and Burkina Faso in third. Despite its ranking, Burkina Faso was awarded the fair-play trophy. Issifi Mamadou Abdoul Aziz of Niger was named the best male fighter.
