Niger marks CNSP anniversary and launches national agriculture policy

Niger is marking the third anniversary of the Conseil National pour la Sauvegarde de la Patrie (CNSP) with events in Niamey focused on the nation's 'refoundation' and economic sovereignty. During a cultural and civic evening at the Palais des Congrès, Niamey Governor Assoumane Abdou Harouna highlighted the country's financial resilience. He reported that regional tax offices collected 178,263,624,567 CFA francs between January 2023 and June 2026, exceeding the 172 billion CFA franc target despite external economic sanctions.

In a separate strategic move toward food sovereignty, the government has launched the process to develop the National Agriculture Policy (PNA). The launch ceremony in Niamey was attended by high-ranking officials, including Dr. Mamoudou Harouna Djingarey, President of the Conseil Consultatif de la Refondation (CCR), and Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Colonel Mahaman Elhadj Ousmane. The policy aims to address production challenges, enhance food security, and improve rural living conditions, serving as a pillar for the country's economic development.
