Niger schedules 2026 Cure Salée festival for September
The 59th edition of the Cure Salée, a major annual gathering for nomadic herders and pastoral communities, has been scheduled for September 25 to 27, 2026, in Ingall, located in the Agadez region of Niger.
According to an official correspondence from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the new dates were selected following an evaluation of organizational constraints and the need for effective coordination among various stakeholders. The Ministry noted that it carefully reviewed recommendations from the regional authorities of Agadez and Tahoua regarding the event's scheduling and took into account the preparatory efforts already made by these regions.
The Cure Salée serves as a vital event in the Nigerien pastoral calendar, facilitating economic exchanges, cultural celebrations, and social interaction. It also plays a significant role in preventing and regulating social tensions within the Sahelian zones.
