Niger U17 qualifies for CAN 2027 after defeating Burkina Faso

Niger's U17 national team, known as the Mena, has secured qualification for the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) following a victory over host nation Burkina Faso in the UFOA-B tournament in Ouagadougou.

After finishing top of Group B following a draw with Ivory Coast and a 2-1 win against Nigeria, Niger faced Burkina Faso in the semi-finals. A second-half goal from a substitute secured a 1-0 win, eliminating the hosts and marking Niger's first appearance in the continental finals since 2017.

In separate youth football developments, Senegal's U20 team finished as leaders of Group B in the UFOA-A tournament after a 0-0 draw with Sierra Leone. The Senegalese side will face Guinea in the semi-finals.
