Nigeria advances climate-smart healthcare and national community initiatives

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology (FMIST) has entered into a high-level engagement with the Nigeria Healthcare Sector-Wide Approach (SWAP) Coordination Office and UNITAID to advance climate-smart healthcare. The collaboration aims to use science, technology, and innovation to address climate-related health challenges, specifically targeting primary healthcare systems in rural communities. Key focus areas include digital transformation, research and development, capacity building, and the commercialization of innovations to improve sustainable energy supplies in healthcare facilities.

Separately, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, addressed the 41st National Conference of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) in Abia State. Represented by Hajiya Nana Shettima, the First Lady urged Muslim women to utilize faith and resilience to support their families and communities. She emphasized the importance of women as leaders, educators, and mentors in contributing to national development and fostering moral values within the country.
