Nigeria advances Smart Transport Databank with Egypt partnership

A senior Nigerian delegation led by Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed and House Speaker Abbas Tajudden visited Cairo to cement cooperation on the Smart National Transport Databank Project. The trip followed a May 15 memorandum of understanding between the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology and Asia Arab Investment, and aimed to move the initiative from partnership to implementation.

The project will create a comprehensive, real‑time national transport database to support traffic management, crash prediction, infrastructure planning and evidence‑based policy. As part of the collaboration, ARCORP Egypt will help set up Driver Training and Development Centres across Nigeria under a public‑private partnership with the FRSC and NITT, targeting higher driver professionalism and reduced road fatalities. Nigerian officials said the databank is a “transformative national asset” that will strengthen road safety and contribute to economic growth.
