Nigeria: Allegations of bribery for ministerial appointments surface

Allegations that ministers pay billions of naira to secure appointments have emerged as a dominant political issue in Nigeria. Following statements from All Progressives Congress (APC) spokesman Alwan Hassan regarding these payments, Atiku Abubakar has called on President Bola Tinubu to identify the individuals involved.

Data from the PRrev Political Parties Monitor indicates that while the ruling APC maintains a high media visibility at 62.8%, it faces significant negative sentiment at 52.7%. In contrast, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) holds a 23.0% share of coverage but maintains a high positive sentiment rating of 68.8%.

Other reported political developments include an attack on an NDC candidate’s convoy in Ebonyi state, resulting in the deaths of two suspected APC thugs, and preparations for the APC’s flag-off event in Kaduna.
