Nigeria and Ghana partner on digital innovation and technology

Nigeria and Ghana are advancing strategic partnerships focused on digital innovation and technological advancement to drive economic growth and industrialization. These initiatives aim to reduce import dependency and foster local manufacturing across West Africa.

In Nigeria, the upcoming GITEX NIGERIA event, scheduled for August 31 to September 3, 2026, in Abuja and Lagos, will highlight the nation's progress in the digital economy. The event supports national programs such as the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, which has seen over 135,000 Nigerians trained, and Project BRIDGE, an ICT backbone project intended to increase internet penetration to over 70% and create significant employment opportunities.

Additionally, Nigeria is utilizing the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to transition from a consumer-driven economy to one centered on production and export. Under the Renewed Hope Agenda, the government is prioritizing technology adoption and youth empowerment to establish the region as a hub for technological innovation.
