Nigeria and Liberia deepen trade ties at Lagos forum

Policymakers, business leaders and investors from Nigeria and Liberia gathered in Lagos for the LiberiaNigeria Trade and Investment Forum, organised by the Liberian government through its embassy and honorary consul in Nigeria. The event, themed “Building Bridges for Shared Prosperity,” highlighted opportunities created by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and called for stronger intra‑African commercial partnerships. Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, delivered the keynote address via senior official Joseph Umar, who stressed that deeper cooperation can stimulate trade, boost industrialisation, create jobs and foster sustainable growth across West Africa. Discussions focused on expanding market access and easing business conditions in sectors such as agriculture, energy, infrastructure, mining, technology, the digital economy and tourism, and on fostering public‑private partnerships and investment‑friendly policies.
