Nigeria and Netherlands Sign Customs Pact to Strengthen Trade and Border Security

Nigeria's Customs Service and the Netherlands Customs Administration signed a joint declaration on 24 June 2026 in Brussels to deepen cooperation on customs modernisation, intelligence sharing, risk management and enforcement. The agreement targets improved trade facilitation, border security and the fight against transnational organised crime, including narcotics, counterfeit goods and illicit wildlife trade.

Comptroller‑General Adewale Adeniyi said the partnership “underscores the value of international cooperation in addressing emerging trade and border management challenges,” while Director‑General Nanette Van Schelven highlighted the need for “mutual learning and operational capacity‑building” to secure supply chains and support legitimate trade.
