Nigeria Announces Teams for 2026 World U20 Athletics and Commonwealth Para Fencing Championships

Nigeria will field a 15‑athlete squad at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, United States, from August 5‑9. The team includes sprinters and relay specialists such as Miracle Ezechukwu, who will run the women’s 100 m, 200 m and 4×100 m relay, and Jessica Oji, entered in the women’s shot put and discus. Other selections cover the men’s sprints, 400 m, triple jump and relay events.

Separately, the Nigeria Fencing Federation has named a 12‑member para fencing team for the 2026 Commonwealth Fencing Championships, to be hosted in Nigeria (Rugby School Nigeria, Atlantic City, Victoria Island) from August 9‑14. The squad is evenly split between men and women, featuring athletes such as Oduneye Opeoluwa and Obilor Chidinma. In the lead‑up, World Abilitysport and the Commonwealth Fencing Federation will run a three‑day Wheelchair Fencing Academy in Lagos (August 5‑7) under the guidance of World Para Fencing coaching representative Ivan Schwantes.
