Nigeria APC Governors Choose Running Mates for 2027 Elections

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas announced that APC Deputy National Women Leader Hajiya Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim will be his running mate for the 2027 governorship race, replacing incumbent Deputy Governor Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, who has been dealing with health issues. Kefas praised Ibrahim as a "bridge‑builder" and highlighted her experience in supporting vulnerable groups.

In Bauchi State, the APC gubernatorial candidate Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar selected former Special Duties Commissioner Faruk Mustapha as his running mate. Mustapha, who recently left the Allied People’s Movement, expressed readiness to serve and affirmed confidence in Abubakar’s leadership. Both tickets have been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission for registration ahead of the general elections.
