Nigeria arrests alleged head of fake presidential agency

Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who called himself Director‑General of the so‑called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (also known as PFIPC or PEAC), has been charged in Nigeria with forgery, impersonation and operating a fictitious government agency.

Investigations revealed that the fabricated body, which the presidency says was never legally created, obtained a budget code, accounting status, office accommodation and foreign‑currency accounts, and corresponded with senior officials in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Office of the Accountant‑General and the Central Bank. Matthew denies wrongdoing and says the courts should determine the truth.
