Nigeria Arrests PFIPC Director Adeniyi Adeyemi Over Alleged Fake Agency

Police arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, director‑general of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), in Ibadan and transferred him to the Intelligence Response Team headquarters in Abuja for interrogation. Authorities describe PFIPC as a fraudulent federal agency. The arrest followed a court warrant issued by Justice Mohammed Umar and a directive from President Bola Tinubu for the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the organisation within 30 days.

President’s chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has filed a N15 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi, alleging the director demanded a 48% kickback on a N27.3 billion grant and made false statements. The suit seeks N10 billion in general damages, N5 billion in aggravated damages and a mandatory retraction in national newspapers and on social media.
