Nigeria aviation regulators partner to strengthen insurance oversight

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the regulation and oversight of aviation insurance.

The agreement establishes a Joint Technical Committee on Aviation Insurance aimed at improving regulatory coordination, information sharing, and compliance. Capt. Chris Najomo, Director-General of the NCAA, stated that the partnership is intended to enhance aviation safety, financial resilience, and passenger protection by ensuring a robust and transparent insurance framework.

This collaboration follows Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023, with NAICOM providing expert assessments on the adequacy of insurance policies held by aviation operators. The initiative seeks to create a balanced regulatory environment that minimizes operational challenges and supports cost-efficient operations within the Nigerian aviation sector.
