Nigeria Basketball Federation appeals committee dismisses election petitions
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Appeals Committee has dismissed petitions challenging the results of the recent 2026 elections. The committee, chaired by Barrister Emmanuel Okibe, ruled that the challenges, including those filed by former national team captain Olumide Oyedeji, lacked merit and sufficient evidence.
Oyedeji had raised several allegations regarding the electoral process, including the initial omission of his name from the candidate list, irregularities in delegate replacement, and concerns over the selection of Yola, Adamawa state, as the election venue. The committee found that the error regarding Oyedeji’s candidacy was promptly corrected and approved by the elective congress, allowing him to participate in the South-West zonal election, which he subsequently lost.
The ruling upholds the election of Dr. Abdullahi Mustapha as the NBBF president for a four-year term and affirms the validity of the electoral committee’s declarations.
