Nigeria beach volleyball duo qualifies for LA 2028 Olympics

Nigerian beach volleyball duo Esther Onyinye Mbah and Pamela Miyoum Bawa have qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The pair secured their spot by winning the African Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the final.

Following their victory, the National Sports Commission (NSC) announced that Mbah and Bawa will be added to the Elite and Podium Board’s training grant scheme. NSC Director-General Bukola Olopade stated that the athletes will receive enhanced high-performance backing and training grants to support their preparation for the Olympic Games. The NSC also commended the Nigeria Volleyball Federation for its work with both the domestic league and national teams.
