Nigeria begins rehabilitation of 13 police training schools

The Nigerian Federal Government has awarded contracts to rehabilitate 13 police training institutions across the country. The project is expected to last three weeks and aims to prepare the facilities for upcoming training programs.

During the 160th meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima urged the council to maintain ongoing economic reforms. He emphasized that these policies must continue until they yield tangible results such as job creation, increased purchasing power, and improved living conditions for citizens.

The NEC also endorsed the Revised National Social Protection Policy (2026–2030). This policy proposes the creation of a National Social Protection Council to oversee coordination and implementation. The council would be chaired by the Vice President and include the Ministers of Budget and Economic Planning, Labour and Employment, and Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, alongside six state governors.
