Nigeria calls for enhanced global anti-corruption cooperation

At the 15th Session of the Assembly of Parties of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Vienna, Austria, Nigeria called for increased international cooperation, capacity building, and technical assistance for developing nations to combat corruption.

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), stated that corruption poses a significant threat to good governance, sustainable development, and the rule of law. He emphasized that specialized education, research, and international partnerships are vital as financial crimes increasingly cross national borders.

Nigeria, a founding member of IACA, is currently implementing its National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2022–2026. This strategy focuses on policy, technical, and institutional interventions across the government, private sector, and civil society. To ensure accountability, a Monitoring and Evaluation Committee for the strategy was inaugurated by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice in February 2025.
