Nigeria chief of staff and prince dispute alleged PFIPC budget allocation

Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, publicly denied the existence of a purported "Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council" (PFIPC), stating on June 11 that the council "does not exist" and that no appointment had been made. He warned foreign missions and the public to disregard any claims linking the council to the presidency.

Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi (also referred to as Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew) contested Gbajabiamila’s statement, saying the PFIPC is listed in the 2026 Appropriation Act with a budget of N1,302,978,784 and operates accounts at the Central Bank of Nigeria, office space at the federal secretariat, and a staff of over 300. He called for an independent investigative panel to examine the council’s records, budget line items, and related personnel matters, and urged President Tinubu to authorize the probe.

The dispute centers on contradictions between official government statements and documents that appear to reference the council, raising questions about budgetary transparency and the integrity of the federal budgeting process.
