Nigeria: Christian communities face increased violence and kidnappings

In Nigeria, recent reports indicate a surge in violence targeting Christian communities across several states. In the Kaduna State, suspected Fulani militants have carried out multiple attacks, including the killing of Christian miners and individuals in various villages, as well as the kidnapping of several people, including a nine-year-old child.

In other regions, evangelical pastor Adamu Japhet was reportedly kidnapped in Bagudo, and several other Christians were taken from their homes in Rahusa Estate. In the Adamawa State, Boko Haram militants destroyed a Protestant church in Hong and burned another church in Bala-Tela, while also kidnapping students and farmers in nearby villages.

Additional incidents include the killing of Christian workers at a mining site in Kworos Gangare and the death of a relative of journalist Lawrence Zongo in Meyango. Zongo was subsequently arrested by the army after visiting a military hospital.
