Nigeria: Coalition endorses SDP candidate Adewole Adebayo for 2027 presidency
The CountryFirst Movement and allied pro-democracy organizations have endorsed Prince Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, for Nigeria’s 2027 general election. The decision was announced during a press conference in Abuja, where the coalition cited Adebayo’s comprehensive 117-page manifesto as the primary reason for their support.
Coalition convener Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr. stated that the group reviewed 11 of the 18 presidential candidates listed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He reported that Adebayo was the only candidate to submit a detailed manifesto including a four-year implementation plan, while 10 others provided only summaries or graphics without specific timelines or policy details.
Adebayo’s platform, titled “Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity,” focuses on 12 priority areas, including national security, food security, electricity, job creation, education, and healthcare. The proposed plan includes establishing a Presidential Delivery and Performance Office within the first 100 days of administration to audit key sectors and improve transparency in public spending.
