Nigeria Court Delays Bail for Influencer Blessing CEO in N36m Fraud
On June 5 2026, Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, reserved ruling on the bail application of social‑media influencer Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, known as Blessing CEO, until June 9 2026. The defendant faces two fraud charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleging she obtained N36 million through false pretence and stealing, related to a property transaction she did not own.
During the hearing, EFCC counsel Suleiman cited a 28‑paragraph counter‑affidavit and argued the defendant had stopped cooperating with the investigation, urging an accelerated trial. The prosecution’s first witness, EFCC investigator Bufa Regina Okangbe, detailed a BVN search that revealed multiple bank accounts linked to Blessing, letters sent to banks, the Lagos State Land Bureau and the Corporate Affairs Commission, and a lease dispute showing the property belonged to Mr Tunbosun Osobu. She testified that the defendant admitted under caution receiving N30 million from the petitioner. Defence counsel P.I. Nwafuru requested liberal bail terms and objected to the admissibility of the defendant’s recorded statements and bank documents.
The court therefore postponed its decision on bail, setting a further hearing for June 9 2026.
