Nigeria Court of Appeal postpones ADC leadership verdict and hears APC election dispute

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has delayed judgment in an appeal by Senator David Mark and former governor Rauf Aregbesola challenging a Federal High Court order that barred them from dissolving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) State Working Committees. The appeal, involving the ADC’s caretaker national committee and the Independent National Electoral Commission, was rescheduled for 13 July without explanation.

In a separate appeal, the Court of Appeal heard an interlocutory case filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against Lady Joy Nkechi Mbawike and other petitioners over the conduct of a rerun and supplementary election in the Mbano State Constituency. The petition contended that the APC candidate was not duly elected, seeking to nullify the supplementary election results and the certificate of return issued by INEC. The tribunal’s earlier rulings on amendment of the petition and panel composition were also examined.
