80-year-old PDP elder arrested over murder of Dr. Fatai Aborode in Oyo State, Nigeria

An 80‑year‑old People's Democratic Party chieftain known as Pa Olawuwo was arraigned in an Ibadan court and remanded in police custody for the killing of businessman Dr Fatai Aborode. Aborode, who had returned from the United States to start a farm in Igangan, Oyo State, was stabbed to death, prompting protests by local youths who blamed criminal herders.

Governor Seyi Makinde visited the victim’s family and ordered security agencies to investigate the murder, suggesting a possible political motive. The arrest and court proceedings follow heightened tension in the area after previous clashes involving Fulani herders and local activists.
