Nigeria Customs CG Bashir Adeniyi receives IPRA award in Greece

Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has received a Special Award of Excellence at the 2026 International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Golden World Awards in Athens, Greece.

The award recognizes the NCS for its commitment to transparent communication, ethical public relations, and stakeholder engagement. These efforts are intended to support the implementation of ongoing reforms aimed at modernizing customs operations, improving trade facilitation, and increasing institutional transparency.

Adeniyi noted that the recognition serves as international acknowledgment of the service's reform agenda, which aligns with national economic policies to improve trade competitiveness and participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He expressed intentions to further integrate emerging technologies, specifically artificial intelligence, into the agency's public communication and engagement strategies.
