Nigeria Customs intercepts explosives and expired noodles at Seme border

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Area Command has intercepted a significant shipment of contraband, including 1,306 sacks of expired and decomposing noodles. The noodles, weighing 50 kilograms each, were discovered in a truck that had been declared as carrying general food items.

In addition to the food items, officers seized 3,300 cartridges of explosive materials. Customs Area Controller Abdullahi Kaila stated that these explosives pose a severe threat to national security, noting they could facilitate terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping. The explosives have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit for investigation.

Other seized items include 1,268 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 373 parcels of Cannabis Sativa, various pharmaceutical products such as Tramaking and Royal Tapentadol, and over 310,000 sticks of cigarettes. The total Duty Paid Value of the seized goods is estimated at ₦365.16 million.
