Nigeria Customs partners WCO and UK to tackle corruption
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has partnered with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and UK International Development to strengthen its anti-corruption framework. The collaboration focused on a workshop dedicated to corruption risk analysis, risk mapping, and the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi stated that the initiative aims to identify systemic vulnerabilities rather than assign blame. The assessment covered several critical areas, including regulatory and administrative procedures, clearance processes, inspection and examination, enforcement, procurement, and human resource management. The goal is to implement practical measures to mitigate risks and enhance transparency, accountability, and public confidence through technology and process simplification.
