Nigeria Customs Service appoints new acting controllers
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has undergone leadership changes within its Federal Operations Units. In Owerri, Imo State, Farouk Nadaniya has assumed office as the new acting Comptroller for Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’, succeeding retired Comptroller Bishir Abdullahi Balogun.
Nadaniya emphasized a commitment to anti-smuggling operations, revenue protection, and national security in accordance with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. He called for professionalism and accountability among officers to support the strategic vision of Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
Simultaneously, Oladapo Afeni has taken over as the 30th acting Customs Area Controller for Federal Operations Unit Zone A in Ikeja. Following the retirement of Gambo Aliyu, Afeni pledged to implement intelligence-led enforcement to block revenue leakages and protect economic interests. His administration aims to facilitate legitimate trade through stakeholder engagement while collaborating with security agencies to combat trans-border crimes such as the illicit movement of arms, drugs, and counterfeit goods.
