Nigeria Customs Service boosts port security and diplomatic trade ties

Nigeria's Customs Service is intensifying cooperation with security agencies and foreign missions to improve maritime security and trade facilitation. Newly appointed Customs Controller Comptroller J. A. Anani met with the Ports Authority Police Commissioner in Lagos, reaffirming the need for joint operations, intelligence sharing and regular drills to protect seaports and national assets.

Separately, Comptroller‑General Adewale Adeniyi hosted a diplomatic reception in Abuja, bringing together ambassadors, high commissioners, senior police, air force and customs officials. He highlighted ongoing partnerships with over 20 foreign customs administrations to strengthen border security, revenue generation and economic competitiveness. Both initiatives underline the Service’s focus on coordinated action between domestic law‑enforcement bodies and international partners.
