Nigeria Customs Service clarifies recruitment and training status
The Nigeria Customs Service has clarified that candidates appearing on its published recruitment list are not automatically guaranteed appointments. This statement follows complaints from over 500 applicants who reported uncertainty regarding their status after training invitations reportedly ceased.
Some candidates claimed they had already completed computer-based tests, physical examinations, and initial screenings, and had even resigned from previous jobs in anticipation of the training scheduled to begin this Friday.
Deputy Comptroller of Customs and spokesman Abdullahi Maiwada explained that the publication of a name does not constitute a final appointment. He noted that the screening process is designed to either admit or disqualify candidates based on physical examinations and other specific requirements. Candidates must successfully clear these final stages before being admitted to the training college and commissioned as officers.
