Nigeria Customs Service Disburses ₦7.61 bn to Pension Funds and Inducts 70 PR Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) released N7.61 billion to nine Pension Fund Administrators for payment to 4,237 retired customs personnel. The disbursement, announced by Comptroller‑General Adewale Adeniyi during a dialogue with retirees on 14 July 2026, covered beneficiaries such as Access‑ARM (1,223), Premium Pension (2,268) and others. Adeniyi said the funds were intended to “reduce the effect of rumours and unofficial information on the relationship between the Service and its retired personnel.”

In a separate initiative, the NCS hosted the first mass induction since 2013 of seventy public‑relations officers into the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations at the Service’s headquarters in Abuja. The ceremony highlighted the agency’s push for professional communication, with Adeniyi stressing that effective storytelling is essential to convey the Service’s reforms and achievements.
