The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption through continued collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and its Eagle Eye Transparency and Integrity initiative. Assistant Public Relations Officer Joshua Sai’du Godiya highlighted the Maritime Anti‑Corruption Awareness Campaign and urged citizens to report corrupt acts, emphasizing that “if you see something, say something.”

At the same time, NCS Deputy Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD, described Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as “gateways to national prosperity,” linking them to Nigeria’s sustainable blue economy. Speaking at the 2026 MARCON conference, he noted that well‑managed SEZs can attract investment, boost exports, stimulate manufacturing and create jobs, while the customs service facilitates legitimate trade and combats smuggling.
