Nigeria Customs Service reports over ₦9.6 billion in seizures and ₦260 million revenue in 2026

Customs Zone C commander Bishir Abdullahi Balogun said the Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit has seized more than ₦5 billion in Duty‑Paid Value since 2025. Highlights include a ₦403.5 million foreign vegetable‑oil haul seized in June 2026, large drug interceptions, cannabis, and a ₦3.6 billion wildlife‑trafficking seizure, all carried out through intelligence‑led operations across eleven south‑east and south‑south states.

Ogun 1 Area Command deputy comptroller Oladipo Afeni reported that between April and June 2026 the command intercepted contraband worth ₦4.63 billion, including foreign parboiled rice, cannabis, raw marijuana, smuggled pneumatic tyres, petroleum products and other prohibited items. The operation generated ₦259.8 million in revenue, a 238 percent increase over the same period in 2025.
