A 101-year-old great-grandmother, Esther Ogunmabo, has been detained in Ogun State, Nigeria, for the alleged sale of cannabis. During an operation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), authorities discovered 90 grams of skunk prepared in small envelopes intended for local residents.
Ogunmabo reportedly told investigators that she turned to the illicit trade after a fire destroyed her grocery store, stripping her of her primary income. The NDLEA stated that her daughter, a resident of Lagos, allegedly supplied the substance every four days, which Ogunmabo then distributed in small quantities to neighbors.
In response to the woman's advanced age, NDLEA Executive Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa ordered her release on bail and recommended she receive psychological counseling. However, her daughter was detained, and the legal case remains open.
