Nigeria electricity metering rate reaches 61.51% in June

Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies (DisCos) significantly increased meter deployment in June 2026, adding 203,521 metered customers. This represents a nearly 95% increase in monthly installations compared to May, when 104,585 customers were metered.

According to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), the national metering rate rose from 60.22% in May to 61.51% in June. While the number of unmetered customers declined by 134,470 during this period, approximately 4,845,647 active electricity customers remain without meters.

Performance varied across the 11 DisCos. Eko Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest metering rate at 88.70%, followed by Ikeja Electric at 87.91% and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company at 81.38%. Ibadan DisCo reported the highest number of new installations in June with 80,643 customers.
