Nigeria energy summits to address industrial power costs and grid stability
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has announced the 2026 Manufacturers Energy Security and Energy Efficiency Summit, scheduled for November 3 and 4. The event aims to tackle high operating costs caused by unreliable electricity supply and expensive alternative energy sources. According to MAN President Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, Nigerian manufacturers spent approximately N1.35 trillion on alternative power generation in 2025, an increase from N1.11 trillion in 2024.
The summit will focus on reducing industrial energy costs, improving gas access, and mobilizing financing for alternative power solutions. Industry leaders noted that high electricity tariffs and the need for machinery conversion remain significant obstacles to competitiveness.
In a separate initiative, the 13th Nigeria Energy conference will be held in Lagos from October 27 to 29. This event will bring together government officials, regulators, and investors to discuss grid performance, transmission infrastructure, and the necessity of translating energy reforms into reliable power for households and businesses.
