Nigeria ex‑Minister Sadiya Umar‑Farouq wanted by EFCC over N37bn fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja has issued a wanted notice for former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar‑Farouq. The notice, posted on the EFCC website by spokesperson Dele Oyewale, alleges that Farouq is involved in a fraud scheme totaling 37 billion naira. The former minister is now declared wanted pending investigation.

The EFCC’s action highlights ongoing anti‑corruption efforts in Nigeria and underscores the seriousness of the alleged financial misconduct involving a high‑level former official.
