Nigeria expands medical outreach through government and NGO initiatives

Various humanitarian and governmental organizations are conducting medical outreach programs across Nigeria to improve healthcare access for underserved populations.

In Kogi State, the government deployed mobile medical services to the Koton Karfe Correctional Centre, providing screenings for tuberculosis and other conditions to inmates and personnel using AI-capable digital X-ray technology. Simultaneously, the My People First Foundation completed a phase of its nationwide outreach, providing medical care to households in Kogi, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory.

In Lagos, the KB Club organized a two-day health event in Ikeja, offering dental consultations, cancer screenings, and eye tests to over 200 residents, including the distribution of delivery kits to pregnant women.

In Kwara State, an EU-supported health intervention has provided free care to approximately 10,000 residents. The state government reported that its health budget allocation has increased from 4 percent to 15 percent as part of efforts to move toward a sustainable partnership model and reduce dependence on external support.
