Nigeria expands Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project

The Nigerian Federal Government is calling for the expansion of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) to increase its impact on livestock farmers and communities. During an implementation support mission in Yola, Adamawa, Minister of Livestock Development Idi Maiha noted that the project is a key component of efforts to transform the nation's livestock sector.

In Taraba State, the L-PRES initiative is focusing on mitigating conflicts between livestock farmers and host communities. Through training in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), the project aims to address disagreements regarding land access, water usage, and crop destruction through dialogue and community-based approaches rather than confrontation.

The World Bank, which supports the project, is participating in a mission to review implementation, share lessons learned, and address emerging challenges to ensure sustainable results for value-chain actors.
