Nigeria explores digital economy investment with U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) hosted a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to discuss collaboration within Nigeria’s digital economy. The meeting included representatives from Microsoft, Citi Bank, Cavista Holdings, Flutterwave, and the Tolaram Group, among others.
Discussions focused on digital transformation, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, data governance, and digital sovereignty. NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa CCIE emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in developing a sovereign cloud ecosystem and creating policy frameworks to attract infrastructure investment.
Separately, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) have called for enhanced cybersecurity and data protection measures. At the International Cybersecurity Conference 2026, officials stressed that digital transformation must prioritize the resilience of telecommunications infrastructure against cyberattacks and integrate privacy and data protection into the design of emerging technologies like AI.
