Nigeria faces political controversy and security challenges

Nigeria faces several significant security and political developments. In Osun State, calls for the removal of EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede have intensified following the controversial freezing of the state government's account. Opposition parties have raised concerns regarding the timing of the action, occurring just days before the August 15 governorship election.

In Kwara State, survivors of a February terrorist attack in the Woro and Nuku communities reported that at least 13 captives died during their six-month captivity, while 12 children remain held by terrorists. Additionally, in Kogi State, gunmen reportedly attacked three communities in the Kupa Kingdom in what is alleged to be a reprisal attack following the death of a suspected cattle rustler.
