Nigeria financial experts call for ethical reforms and SME funding

Financial market professionals in Nigeria are calling for increased commitment to ethical conduct, sustainable business practices, and physical well-being to build a more resilient market. During the Financial Markets Integrity Group’s annual walk in Lagos and Abuja, stakeholders emphasized that professional integrity and healthy lifestyles are essential for managing the pressures of regulatory and corporate leadership.

Separately, at the 30th Anniversary Symposium of the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria, experts highlighted the need for accelerated regulatory reforms and digital innovation to sustain market growth. Discussions focused on the necessity of widening access to long-term funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Experts noted that while the market has transitioned from paper-based transactions to more efficient processes, further support is required to help SMEs formalize operations and strengthen corporate governance to become investment-ready.
